Last weekend of October

Here we go, it’s all downhill from now until the end of the year. With Halloween next Wednesday, the season begins. Thursday the radio station starts playing Christmas music 24 hours a day and a few weeks later is Thanksgiving and then you throw in a couple of notable birthdays (Jagger and Tom) and soon it’s Christmas. 2 months and 2 days from today is my birthday, ugh. When you get to be my age they come faster and you don’t really look forward to them.

Lori and I are looking for a dress for her today for the school gala. The theme is Winter White which is about the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of for a party in mid November. You can’t wear summer clothes so you have to go buy something you’d wear in winter that’s white. I’m just going to wear a white shirt, screw it. But if you’re a woman, you have to have an “outfit”, ha.

Ty and Sam (Dr. C’s daughter) and Sonny planned on going to a haunted house last night but it turns out it’s on Tuesday so they went to the movie Halloween instead. Big mistake! The scary movies they make these days are really scary. Ty didn’t want to go but went anyhow as the other two did. He’s like me and doesn’t like scary movies. Jag, Lor and I stayed home.

Jag is coming with us today while Ty will stay home and clean the mess known as his room. That was our deal when he needed cash for last night. I told him he needs to do a good job or I’m taking his phone which is about the only leverage you have with kids these days.

Now for the news of the day. Some lady bumped me in our Suburban leaving the gas station yesterday and earlier in the morning Lori pulled out of a parking spot and we think pulled a bumper off an old Subaru. We’re not sure but we think the running board on the truck caught on the bumper as she heard a clunk. No damage to our truck at all. We left a note but no one called us. Maybe they’ll call today. Lori feels terrible but I told her there’s millions of accidents every day, plus in just the past week, two of her patients died! One in a car wreck just two days ago right on I-70 and another older rancher on his tractor 4 or 5 days ago. When you put things into perspective, this isn’t that big of a deal, just something you deal with and move on.

That’s it, have a great day and God Bless.
