Super Saturday

It’s shaping up to be a great fall day with the high in the low 60’s. In fact the coming week looks pretty seasonable with temps in the mid 50’s. We’re hoping to win the lottery today as we sure need the money. Why not us? We’re good people, would share some with worthy causes (like all of you!) and wouldn’t let it go to our heads. We’re not counting on it but it’s nice to dream and someone has to win, right? You never know…….

We have a big week of traveling coming up and lots of work. I have a new employee landing from L.A. around noon on Monday for a 3:30 meeting and then we both fly out at 6am Tuesday morning for Chicago with me landing back in Denver around 4. The misses works Tuesday and Wednesday after her marathon 4 hour hair modeling session Monday afternoon from probably 4 until 8 pm. Then later in the week we’re off to a surprise destination for a 3 day weekend. More to come on this in a few days. Both pups are in and sleeping at my feet after a big breakfast while everyone else is still sleeping upstairs.

Yesterday was Veterans Day and it was celebrated at school with a special flag raising ceremony and visits by veterans to the classrooms. The oldest took Grandpa’s Army coat complete with oak leaf clusters (his Major leafs) which was a big hit at school. His friend Jennifer also took her Grandpa’s coat and mid afternoon I received a text with a photo of the two of them sent by her Mom. I guess all the “older” veterans (as our guy put it) really liked Grandpa’s jacket. meanwhile a few doors down, the youngest took an actual kevlar helmet I received as a gift from a soldier who was in Afghanistan that I did a favor for, it too was a hit! So thanks to all the veterans out there, we salute you. I think the only veteran reading might be Pa Don who was in the Navy, that’s about all I know. Maybe Grandma Dixie or Pa Don could tell us some more. Anyhow it’s sad the way we treat those who serve these days, especially when they get home. Veterans make up the highest percentage of homeless people and we basically discard them when we’re through with them, it’s pretty sad.

There are lots of things I could talk about that are in the news these days but most are so sick (Penn State) or depressing (politics) that I just can’t bring myself to do it. How about 11/11/11 yesterday. I thought something mystical was going to happen but no, nothing much, just another day.

Well I think I’ll get another cup of joe (who came up with that name?) and see if the paper is here and try to get to the gym before everyone is up! By the way, Uncle T has lost something like 30 pounds! Great job, keep it going. The oldest also had dinner (chinese) with Uncle T and Aunt B last night, thanks much.

Take care, God Bless and have a great weekend. The mountains are supposed to get about 2 feet today but thankfully none in the city.

See you tomorrow!
