Big day, no sleep

Well, Lacey the lab had us up all night. First I was up at 2 and then 3 letting her out as she was barking (the misses says it was 12 and 2) and then the better half was up at 4 and I think 5 doing the same. It’s now 5am and I also woke up. She was also up (I think) a time or two with the little guy. I’m thinking of cleaning the kitchen but I don’t want to make too much noise.

Yesterday we headed out in the morning to the Fort for the mountain man rendezvous and then stopped in Morrison for lunch. We made it home just in time to change and head out to the little guys soccer game. When we arrived it began to rain with one of those pelting type rains that are common in the fall. Thankfully this soon subsided and the game continued. He and his team played well and the game ended in a 1 to 1 tie. We made it home and the boys hit the street on their bikes while Mom made some dinner. She made risotto seasoned with parmesan cheese along with steak which was a great meal and a perfect fit the cooler fall afternoon. The night was topped off with fresh blueberry pie and ice cream and then a few games of cards before bed.

Today the 5K race starts at 8am so the kids will have to get up by 6:30 or so. After that we’ll be home for a few hours before heading to the football game. Next we’ll stop by to see Tasha, Aviak and her new boyfriend from Hawaii.

I normally don’t like to jump into politics on a Sunday but now we have Obumer coming out with some new taxes that in theory sound good but in reality are all about politics. He wants to call it the “Buffet rule” after Warren Buffet saying that the “supposedly rich” need to pay more. Now I’m certainly not one of the “rich” so I have no vested interest in arguing for them, but in reality they already pay more than their fare share. The President knows this it’s just that it doesn’t make for good sound bites to say “let’s tax the middle class more”. Don’t believe me, well here’s the cover story from the Washington Post which is an extremely liberal newspaper, check it out,

Ever-increasing tax breaks for U.S. families eclipse benefits for special interests

Special report: Running in the Red

By , Published: September 17

As President Obama and congressional Republicans argue over how to rewrite the U.S. tax code, the debate has revolved around “loopholes” for corporate jets and ending “carve-outs” for well-heeled special interests. But if the goal is debt reduction, that’s not where the money is.

Broad tax breaks granted to millions of families at all income levels dwarf the corporate giveaways. Over the past two years, largely because of these popular benefits in the federal income tax code, the government has reached a rare milestone in tax collection — it has given away as much as it takes in.

All told, federal taxpayers last year received $1.08 trillion in credits, deductions and other perks while paying $1.09 trillion in income taxes, according to government estimates.

Only about 8 percent of those benefits went to corporations. (The write-off for corporate jets equals about .03 percent of the total.) The bulk went to private households, primarily upper middle-class families that Obama has vowed to protect from new taxes.

“The big money is in the middle-class subsidies,”

Now if you read this and the rest of the article, it clearly explains that we (the regular people) are the ones that if anyone is going to pay more, needs to pay more. I know, it’s hard to believe and I’m not advocating that “we” pay more in taxes. I’m all for less spending and smaller government. BUT, if they are going to make someone pay more, it’s not the supposed “corporate jet owners” who are not paying their fare share or are going to solve the problem. Don’t you just love bashing “corporate jet owners”, I mean who can’t get behind that!

I’m so sick of politicians and our President pandering to the left and wasting precious time trying to buy votes instead of addressing the real problems we face which is flat out a government that is too big with too many regulations. I don’t care if you’re a democrat or republican, if you really look at the numbers, he’s just playing politics. Next there will be some special break for latino’s as he’s been losing them and they’re a “must have” for him to have any chance of getting re-elected. Don’t be fooled by this slick talking socialist. On the World stage, America is no longer liked, respected, or feared by other countries or their people. Our standing in the World has slowly beed eroded thanks to inconsistent policy depending on who the administration is trying to please that day. It’s really disgusting people, get ready, tough times are coming. How’d you like the protest on Wall Street yesterday with everyone carrying signs promoting socialism and the “power of the people”. It looked like something you’d see in Europe. I need to stop now as I’m getting much too worked up for a Sunday morning. Sorry if I offended anyone but the issues are too big to ignore. Call me crazy but the warning signs are all around you. Look at all the foreclosures, how about all the vacant stores around where you live, anyone check out food prices lately? I could go on and on but if you don’t see it now, you probably won’t until your local grocery store runs out of food or the gas station stops taking cash because it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on. Let’s all pray it doesn’t come to this but there’s a lot of really smart people, (Nobel prize winning economists and highly regarded unbiased minds) telling us it’s coming. Enough said.

Ok back to the family, a big thank you goes out to Grandma Annette who sent us a package of pictures of her nieces (and I think the misses nieces too, the boys cousins and whatever else they are) on their motorcycles and all the associated gear that goes with it. The pictures show all the costs of everything that’s involved from gloves to helmets to the motorcycles and the trailer you need to haul around all the gear. Good news is we already have a truck! It was fun to look through all the photos of the girls and their bikes. I get the message but this might have backfired as now the boys want motorcycles more than ever! Thankfully it’s going into winter so I can probably hold them off until spring and maybe they’ll be excited about something else by then. We’ll keep you posted.

Time to read the paper and then get the family up. I also need to fill out our passport applications this morning and go pick up the boys photos as we forgot to go back to Walgreens yesterday afternoon. Take care and God Bless and I’ll try to get the misses to write tomorrow.
