Cleaning out the pantry

We decided to continue cleaning the house and focused on our kitchen pantry thinking we’d knock it out in an hour or so. Little did we know it’d take us most of the day to complete this job. In the end I threw out a trash bag full of old things ranging from spices to old sauces, some with expiration dates going back to 2004! The trash bag had weighed over 50 pounds as I’m pretty strong and had to use both hands to lift it and carry it out to the trash. Good news is one more thing around here is clean. Next up is the mud room while I continue on the t basement.

Today we’re thinking of opting out of some new tests going on in 12 States. There’s a big movement to just say no to these tests that someone somewhere came up with as a way to rate schools. The problem is the teachers have been forced to “teach to the test”, meaning teach only things that will help kids pass this useless test and not teach them what they need to know to prepare for the next year. Jagger too has this and is off something like Tuesday through Thursday. He goes in and takes the test first thing in the morning and then is finished for they day when he’s through, sometime around 10am! We’re more worried about grade school than Junior High so I’ll be calling Ty’s Principal this morning.

Next year we’re even thinking of moving Ty to Bell Junior High in Golden. This school is 6th, 7th and 8th grade while his current school ends after 6th grade next year. The problem is the caliber and number of kids that now go to his current school have dropped and ballooned. (caliber of kids dropped while number of students have ballooned) Plus a lot of teachers are retiring of leaving next year. So lot’s of stuff going on.

Throw in a bunch of drama at both of our jobs and we have a busy busy week. Hope all’s well, God Bless.
