Switching schools

Lots going on with Ty’s school and all local education in general. Now if you don’t have kids you most likely have no clue what’s going on. So here it is in a nutshell. If you take all the mandates and regulations coming out of Washington that are made up by senior citizen, life long politicians, who are so out of touch with their communities and especially local schools, and add in the Administrations ideas, you’re pretty much fucked. This is all coming to light right now with these mandated Parcc tests that will consume the remainder of the year and do nothing to prepare the kids for their next year of school. On top of that, Ty’s school has about 2/3rd’s of the teacher either leaving or retiring while the enrollment been swelling with low income and english second language kids.

So yesterday we decided to check out Bell Middle School in Golden. This is a 6th, 7th and 8th grade school that we put in a registration for yesterday. It’ll be a couple weeks before we know if he gets in but if he does, we’ll switch schools next year. Then if he wants, he can try for Manning in 7th grade. All we know is it’s time to get him out of his current school.

Today Jag is off at 10am, then the same again tomorrow and then he’s off all day Thursday. I don’t know how the schools expect working parents to rearrange their schedules when they do something like this. Meanwhile Ty will read a book and do a book report as we opted him out of the testing as did a bunch of other parents. Many didn’t know they could “opt” their child out of this worthless testing until they of course spoke with me. Looks like I personally started a movement.

More snow today, lots of bills to pay, and never ending cleaning is all on the agenda. Lori is busy trying to finish her remodel and keep the office running at the same time. I have a meeting tomorrow of course, (instead of today,) as they’ll be more snow for me to drive in then, super.

Jagger had a baseball session yesterday and is really looking good. We have practice tonight with the entire team but his pitching is really coming along. Yesterday he learned and threw his first change up, which is a type of pitch. By the time the season starts he should have it going on.

Guess that’s it, time to run, hope all’s well, God Bless.
