Where is HE who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him. matthew 2:2

Good morning, we arose to a fresh blanket of snow outside with some of our luminaries still burning on the sidewalk from the night before. It’ll be cold today with the high in the low 20’s and the low around zero. I woke around 5:30 and after making coffee went outside to shovel the walk to get my paper and heard Jag yelling from the top of the stairs, “Hey Dad,  Merry Christmas”!

This was enough to wake Ty and soon Mom followed walking gingerly down the stairs with her sore hip. It didn’t take long for the boys to grab their stockings and check to see if Santa ate his cookies and if the reindeer ate the carrots they left out for them. They opened a couple of presents, like the snow ball thrower from Santa and some new pajama’s before we could stop them so we could take a shower. Auntie Kristin’s gift hasn’t arrived so she told us to just wrap up a picture for them but instead we played a word game. We started out by giving them the first letter of the present which is a “P”. This went on with both boys guessing after each letter until we finished up the first word which was Play and then started the second word which began with a “S”. Finally Ty guessed Play Station 3 which is the fantastic video game console they don’t have. They both fell to the floor with fake heart attack symptoms amazed that they would soon be getting this. Before the youngest guy figured it out they guessed everything from placemats to Playdough to a play set and others. It was a fun way to let them know what was coming.

Last night we had our big dinner which began with my Mom, Robi and Robert arriving a bit after 5. We had a glass of wine before dinner and then all sat down to eat. Soon afterwards, Uncle T and Aunt B showed up as her parents and family had left. We all sat around just like the old days with the 3 of us (me, Robi and Tom) talking smack and sharing stories for the next few hours. My Mom just sat back and took in the festivities enjoying hearing us all reminisce about times long gone and some of just the other day. I could see her laughing on the inside even though she was quiet as a mouse! It was a good time and great for all three of us to be together. Aunt Shelly was sick and didn’t make it but we’ll see her today at Grandma’s. We’re all going up there at 10:30 which is another 3 1/2 hours from now. I was trying to lobby to go up earlier but Aunt Ali suggested 11 (you can tell she doesn’t have kids getting up at 6!) and Tom said 10:30 or so and I said 9 knowing we’d meet somewhere in the middle. Robi and Robert are so easy to be around and said they didn’t care as they get up early anyhow. My Mom said we can come up too whenever we wanted. 10:30’s fine as we’re pretty easy too. After all, it’s Christmas, what’s the hurry as when it’s over, it’s over.

We’ll bring leftovers which include antipasti, chicken, tiramisu along with an apple and pecan pie for brunch. The boys are waiting for Mom and I to shower so they can open some more goodies. The youngest is upstairs playing Wii while the oldest is sitting next to me on the couch watching a show. I think Mom is making them something to eat.

So, we hope everyone has a wonderful day and remembers the true meaning of the day. Everyone needs to embrace our Lord Jesus Christ now more than ever with all the challenges we face in our World. He sees and knows everything going on and is there for those who seek and believe in him. Each person has to decide on their own whether or not to embrace Him and I’m not going to tell you what to do but I will suggest that if you don’t believe, you should give it a try!

Merry Christmas and God Bless.
