Yesterday was a fun day, from 5am when we woke up, to midnight when we finally went to sleep.
It started with a trip to the gym for a quick workout, then we were around the house doing stuff as Lori made a vampire cheesecake for the party. I talked to Marty around noon, and he asked what we were doing, and I said getting ready for the party. Of course, even though he was invited, he said, what party? I told him throw on his hunting jacket and come over for an hour or so to see everyone. He hasn’t been anywhere since his surgery a couple weeks ago and has been going stir crazy. He agreed to come so we were excited to see him.
We showed up a little after 6 and there was already a large group. People really go all out for this party and the costumes are always amazing. They’re so good, you don’t recognize most people until they speak. A few minutes after we showed up, Marty made it. He looked good but was a good 15 pounds lighter and moving slowly. Our neighbor, Nate, who is a doctor, was amazed how well he’s doing. We all hung out for 90 minutes or so until he was getting tired and headed home.
We met lots of new people and everyone loved our Ricky Bobby costumes when in reality we could have taken the coats off and looked like a couple going out to dinner on a nice summer day, in someplace like Hawaii.
Everyone was so complimentary of Ty. One local chef, Kyle, said Ty’s my hero! He said he always has a smile and is so nice and makes everyone’s day better. So nice to hear as parents, but we know that. It’s just nice to hear it from other people. Ty made a bet or something and I think went to his party as a Playboy Bunny! We’re waiting for pics!
We also met Blake, the chef of Senor Bear, which is one of our favorite, if not the best restaurant in Denver. Turns out he’s Chris’s best friend. Chris owns a couple restaurants up here and he and his wife Janelle are good friends. Think we’re going to their house for Thanksgiving. Cary, Blake the chef’s wife has three places of her own and is also a chef and placed third on the last season of Top Chef! She was super nice and we’re going to go to some of her places next time we’re down in Denver. By the way, they (all the chefs and food peeps) raved about Lori’s Basque cheesecake!
Later in the evening, Lori texted me, come in, as I was in the cabin with the guys smoking a cigar. So many people we didn’t know strolled in there during the night that I jokingly said to Andres, we need a lock on the door to keep people out. He said, oh there is one and turned the deadbolt. This is the cabin that is our cigar lounge and was built in the 1870’s so when he locked the door, he locked us in! I texted Lori to come open the door from the front, but it wouldn’t open. We finally went out the window and Andres got it fixed later, but we were stuck for a bit, too funny.
I was watching the CU game while there and made it home right after the second half started. Jag was on tv and sent us a picture someone took, (see below). It was a solid game, and we look like the real deal. Staying up until midnight though, is brutal.
Super fun time and day. I’ll get pics up from the party tomorrow. Have a great day, be well and Go Broncos! God Bless.
