Good morning.  Today the boys are Principal for a day.  They will be helping Mr. Collins with his duties as Principal and then having lunch in his office this afternoon.  He (Mr.Collins) is ordering Subway for the kiddos and himself.  That will really make the boys happy.  I’m going to the school to take advantage of this photo  opportunity.  I also need to drop off some pirate props for the music teacher….she is using the pirate ship that I made for the school dance at the beginning of the year. The 2nd grade performance is Thursday at 7p.m. for any of you that can make it…I’m sure the youngest would be thrilled.  He has a line…”A Pirates Life For Me.”
The Mister is off already to make his rounds with a wine rep. Â I think he may make it home by 5:30 or 6..long day of driving.
The house….yes, it looks as if a bomb went off in every room. Â Seriously, every room. Â There is a mess from breakfast, boy am I ever a messy cook. Laundry on the floor of the boys room and in front of the bathroom/laundry room. We have a pirate skeleton on the floor of the family room along with a toy cross bow the kids were playing with last night…and of course the ever present pooch hair. Â I think I’ll only tackle one or two of the messes today.
The political commercials are hilarious…I wonder how many people believe what they see on t.v. There was a “Happy Mother’s Day” add that was really funny and perhaps true, but no one really knows..maybe the candidates. Â
Twelve days of school left….ugg. Â I really enjoy having the summer with the boys, butI always worry about what is known as the “summer slide.” Â The summer slide is not what it sounds like. Â It is not a fun swirling, twirling slide that lands you in the water. Â Instead, it is the backslide that every teacher dreads. Â The kids come back to school 3 or 4 months behind from where they left off in the spring. Â I plan on the boys enjoying their summer, but school is much more advanced than it was when I was a girl. Â Second graders learn prefixes and suffixes as well as world geography and math that we learned in 5th grade. Â The 4th graders are working on presentations, essays and the math of my 7th grade. Â It seems like a lot, but they do it with no hesitation. Â Â Amazing!! Â Anyway, I usually have their workbooks for summer by now and plans for a bit of a summer schedule. Â Not this year. Â I think I’ll give Barnes and Noble a call this morning for workbooks.
I am off to let my barking dog in and hed to school for the photo opp.
Have a great day and God Bless,
LLF
