The big day!

It’s hard to believe our oldest son was born 10 years ago today. Wow how time fly’s. You all know, some better than others, what a great young man he’s grown up to be. Sure he’ll fight with his brother and yes he has his moments but it would be hard to imagine a better son, brother, nephew or grandson than he is. We’re awfully proud of him and we all love him very much!

Yesterday was their last day of school until January 4th. I thought it was the 8th but his teacher corrected me when she stopped by last night on her way home from school. She gave the oldest a big hg and said how well he does in school and how much she enjoys him in class. I think she really has a special interest in him as she says she was a lot like him when she was younger. We’re so lucky to have very good teachers for both the boys. I worked most of the day while Mom went to school and helped out with the boys party’s. I don’t know what the school would do without her and the time she’s put in over the years. She’s really done everything she can to make sure the kids have the best possible school experience they can. This of course is more important these days than when we were kids as none of the schools have any money!

After school the youngest was looking at our bulletin board made of corks that the misses made. I told him stores downtown would probably pay $25 or more for one and sell then for $75. Before you could blink an eye, he was looking for a hot glue gun to start his own business! I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was going to make some but he’d also be making some toys out of cork. He said that he’d make them for everyone but for the kids, they’d be free! Another selfless act of kindness, once again, boy are we great parents! We should win some kind of, as the say in the Christmas Story, “major award”!

Today of course we have one party after another. First up is the family party at 11am with Grandma, Uncle T and Aunt B. This one will be hard to beat as I’m sure he’ll be spoiled beyond belief. Next up will be his party at Big Time, a place with trampolines, foam pits (to land in) a maze, jumpy castles and more. There are 8 kids which includes him and his brother and a friend for his brother. After this we’re headed to Elways for dinner. Uncle T told me he thinks I’m crazy (and maybe I am) but we want his 10th birthday to be memorable and special. He’s taking his friend Jennifer with us to dinner and although you can never say “his girlfriend”, that’s pretty much what she is.

We’ll have to pace ourselves to get through the day. I think we’ll all head to the gym this morning to get the day started off on the right foot. I’ve already run to the store for coffee creamer and yogurt and picked up a couple of double non fat lattes with a splash of eggnog for the misses and me.

Hope you’re all well, sorry for the rant on political correctness and the brief foray into politics yesterday but sometimes I just can’t help myself. Take care, have a great weekend and make sure to say a prayer for the Denver Broncos to beat the New England Patriots tomorrow! God Bless
