Tour de France

Day 2 of the Tour de France, we watch it early every single morning! It’s great and we have high hopes for our team from Boulder this year.

Yesterday we had one comment from Annette, thanks!

Annette says:

I know we need to vote and I will and hopefully more people will band together. The picture on the van says alot, however don’t forget that also exempts the Republicans. The fires in Colorado look awful. I remember being close to a couple of forest fires in Carson City and a couple of Serena’s friends lost their homes. It was a very scary. I remember one 4th of July driving home from Mom and Dads, listening to the news and not knowing if Carson City would still be there (this was before cell phones). The fire burned alot of homes on the out skirts of town and kept flaring up because of the winds. Serena was about 12. It’s something I don’t want to go through again. Thats one of the things I don’t miss about NV. We had bad forest fires about every 3 yrs. I do miss the clear blue skys, beautiful colors on the hills at sunset, cool nights even if it’s hot during the day and Lake Tahoe in 30 min. Hang in there guys, we all love you very much.

Thanks Annette and you are right, all the politicians have exempted themselves from Obamacare, that right there should tell you something. At least the republicans want to repeal it. I was never a big Sara Palin fan but she hit it right on the head the other day when she called Nancy Pelosi a dingbat! Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi epitomize everything that is wrong with politics. There’s lot of blame to go around but these two are just nuts.

We skipped the swim meet yesterday as the oldest missed practice all week since he was at camp. Plus we all needed the sleep. We also cleaned the house and did some laundry, you know, every day shit you don’t want to do but have to. The youngest went to a friends last night to go to the Colorado Rapids soccer game and then spend the night. We made some bourbon chicken last night (that actually has no bourbon in it) that turned out really good. I went to the gym early, about 5, and Mom just made crepes for breakfast. Her head is killing her but we go back up to the mountains this Tuesday (the 3rd) for another round of injections. Hopefully they’ll help.

I have lots of wine to ship tomorrow and more the following Monday. The 4th has put a kink in my plans as Fed Ex doesn’t deliver that day and I cannot chance wine sitting in some hot warehouse somewhere.

I think we’re staying home for the 4th although I’d rather go to the mountains where it’ll be cooler. It looks like the kids have their sights set on going to the pool though. It’s fun for them but just turns into a drunk fest for the adults. One of the advantages of our pool is you can bring your own alcohol which can also have a downside. Imagine 200 pairs of parents at the pool in the heat all day long with their own coolers full of every type of adult beverage you can think of. The misses and I just don’t like to drink that much anymore but it’s easy to get sucked in when everyone around you is pounding them back and your stuck at the pool for 6 to 8 hours.

It’s still super hot here, right about 100 each day. We did go climb the bleachers again at Red Rocks yesterday, I’d like to go again today but we’re waiting on the youngest to call from his sleep over.

We’re planning our trip to Nice France and might run over to Slovenia too. We’re lucky as we have free airfare and lodging in both countries. We have lots and lots of really nice friends. Early October should be good weather as well. I’m a little leery about the world economy and unrest though so I’ll keep an eye on it before I book the flights.

I think I’ll run now and box up some wine to get a head start on it. Not sure what we’ll do today except try to keep things watered outside. I’m sure we’ll have a huge freakin water bill. We should just let it go brown as it’ll happen anyhow.

Have a great day and week as it’s almost a lost week with the holiday right in the middle!
