Down, Crunch and Up

We made it down to Denver a little after 10 am to Mom’s where we got the rest of the stuff out of the house. It should be listed in a couple of days. I think Tommy said cleaners are coming today. Of course the garage still is full but we’ll get to that later. Lori and I then took off to run our errands before heading home. After hitting three spots in Cherry Creek we were driving down Speer Blvd when all of a sudden we felt and heard a crunch. A BMW with six 20 somethings merged into our lane and side swiped our truck. Man was I pissed.

I got out of the truck and said God dammit which I think freaked the kids out as they were very apologetic and polite. Lori said a guy like me jumping out of a big ass truck, pissed, could scare anyone. We called 911 and they said to just exchange info which we did. The damage is not too bad but the truck will have to go into the shop to get repaired. That means next week I’ll be going to Denver to drop it off and get a loaner, what a hassle.

We then went to look for a chair at American Furniture Warehouse but didn’t find one. Everything there is really cheap and seems like it wouldn’t last. We need to somehow get one today.

Lori, Francesca, Harley and Moose (Harley and Moose are the dogs, ha) are going for a hike at 9:30. It was so smokey yesterday we had to stay inside and keep all the windows shut. The Christine Lake Fire which I first told you about a week or so ago when Jag and I went to Aspen, flared back up and had crested on a ridge. When a fire starts burning down a slope or hill, you can’t fight it and just need to let it burn until it gets to the bottom of the hill or gully. This is what happened here and so a ton of smoke from Basalt headed our way. Then of course Vail Pass holds it in like a big dam. It was so bad it was snowing ash on our cars. Thankfully this morning it’s much much better. Fire season in the west is just part of life but it seems worse this year than in years past.

That’s it, Ty works today at 3. I told him I’m going to charge him and his brother for a cleaning service to come in if they don’t clean their rooms! God Bless.
