Tomorrow is Halloween, sort of, Tuesday is the official Halloween and then Wednesday it’s November 1st. Throw in two basketball games for Ty on Tuesday and Wednesday and practice for Jag and once again, we’re busy.
In Minturn, our little town outside of Vail, Halloween rules! The whole town gets up for it like most places do for Christmas. People come from all over the valley to trick or treat and enjoy the night. And all of this always happens on October 30th. Some homes really decorate and there’s a few that stay decorated all year long! We don’t get many trick or treaters as we’re up on a hill but you can watch a steady stream of head lights coming up Highway 24 leading to town and the main parking lot behind the saloon. Little kids with their parents begin trick or treating as early as 5:30. Up here it gets dark a little after 6:30 this time of year. Throw in some snow tonight after midnight and it should be a fun night.
Tuesday, on the official Halloween, there’s a small enclave of homes called Millers Ranch down valley that also goes all out. This is a small area made up of affordable housing meaning around $500K, ugh. They too go all out and people from all over go there too. So, we have a couple nights of ghosts, goblins and ghouls. Throw in the Bronco game on Monday Night Football and we’re busy. Jag doesn’t go out for candy anymore but is supposed to dress up for school. Not sure what Ty will be but he has had about 7 full size candy bars in the last 24 hours to prep himself for the candy to come. We bought some for the few kids we’ll get and Ty decided he’d eat most of the package! I’m surprised he could even sleep with all that sugar.
Lori just came down to have her coffee. We were planning on hitting the gym again but might take the day off as we’ve been the last two days. Ty went to town to hang out with a couple boys yesterday and Jag went to a movie with Ethan until we picked them both up around 7. Lori cleaned out her drawers and threw a bunch of old stuff away. I think she has her sights set on her closet today.
It’s cool here with frost on the windshields but dry. Maybe we’ll squeeze in a good hike today if we have time. Guess I’ll run, hope everyone is well, have a good day and God Bless.
