Yesterday was the first day in about two months that I didn’t stress eat. You see food is as much of a drug for me as alcohol or for that matter, drugs. In many ways, certain foods such as those containing sugar, are drugs. Anyhow as you know, we don’t drink or do drugs so food is about our only challenge. Our trainer said that in times of stress everyone eats poorly as he sees it all the time. The only thing to do is wake up and start over, no questions asked, no matter the challenge. So yesterday, as I had hit the wall the night before, I decided I’m back on the “Program”. It’s funny as I need to get to the place where I’m disgusted and disappointed with myself and then like flipping a light switch, I’m all in. This morning I feel so much better, I weigh less, I slept better and my head is clearer. All because I made good choices and ate “clean” for one day. I’m sure none of you care but this is part of the process for me to be all in. I’ll stop now as I’m back baby and there’s no turning back, sans some major life altering event which I hope I’m through with for a good while!
Ty had yesterday off and Jag didn’t have much going on at school, so he went with me to Longmont to see an account. We had a fun day and Lori made it home a bit after 5. Not sure what we’re doing today but first up, we’re going to the gym, (see above, ha). Here at home, our house is packed. We have way too much stuff but have begun to box and organize things as we just don’t have room to have everything out. Some of this is due to knick knacks from Moms but mostly it’s just our crap. We’ve been paying for two storage units since we moved up here to the tune of about $500 a month and the funny thing is, we don’t really miss anything we have in storage. Sure there’s some Christmas boxes and lawn furniture Mom gave us years ago from Arizona, but other than that, we could pretty much do without the rest of the stuff. As you all know, Mom saved everything! It’s human nature not to throw things out and I’m so glad she saved some of the things she did like her high school and college memorabilia, but there’s some stuff none of us need to hold on to. We’re trying to purge a bit but it’s difficult.
Robin has a mover coming in a few days to pick up the things she wants from Moms and then mid-November Tasha and Derek have a mover coming to get lots of stuff. They’re taking a lot of what’s in the house, which is good as Tom, Robin and I just don’t have room to take a bunch of furniture. We’re so glad she can use it as we don’t want to throw anything out! There’s still so much to do at the house. The basement, the garage, the attic and numerous closets and rooms upstairs are still packed. In the closet at the top of the stairs I found two quilts with notes pinned to them saying they were for “Michelle”. Not sure who wrote the notes but it was a long long time ago. That’s also where I found Mom’s high school year books along with my Grandma’s high school year books from 1908 and 1909. Other than that, there was just a lot of crap like old fabric from custom made chairs or curtains long gone. We should go down and keep cleaning today but I think we need a day off.
We might be getting a new rescue dog! Now I know what you’re thinking, why would we add that to everything we have going on. Well, because we want one and they need homes. We always had two dogs and there are lots of poor abandoned animals living in shelters. It could be worse as the boys saw a rescue rabbit and hedgehog on line that needed a home. We’ll keep you posted. Besides, Tom and Ali just rescued a dog, Maybel, from Moms!
Time to run, it’s a great Fall day up here. Check out this pic from our deck last night. It’s was much more spectacular in person, as it always is. Looks like a painting, right? God Bless.
